Day 2 of 21 Days

We’ve made it through day one…hope you remembered to pray corporately both at 7am & 7pm, had you quiet time, read chapter 1 & ate a hardy & healthy meal. The excitement level is incredible continue to ride the wave we’ll soon settle down and some very special things will begin to reveal themselves to us.

Well today we’re looking at John chapter 2, which records the very first miracle Jesus performed. What is so interesting about this miracle is where it was performed at a wedding or marriage feast. A few very important notes about this event one Jesus was invited to the wedding, two Jesus was invited before there was a need. Too many marriages look to Jesus after things have gone bad rather than seeking him always. Third, the wedding ran out of wine…I will never forget how Dr. A. Glenn Woodberry taught about “when the wine runs out,” marriage is terrific but its also tough. The wine represents all that is good, satisfying, happy and fulfilling in marriage and even in the best marriage the wine runs out BUT if Jesus is invite He can turn water into wine, turn your bad day into your BEST days. Be Encouraged!

Here’s where God hit me right between the eyes verse 13ff “The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” Remember that we are His temple now and then think about how many times we have been caught up and distracted by not just things that are necessarily bad but things that are just not necessary and missed what God wanted to do in our lives?

Jesus went to Jerusalem to prepare for the upcoming Passover feast. He found the people distracted by material goods and wealth instead of preparing for the spiritual awakening that was to occur during Passover. During the next 20 day God is asking that WE take the time to spiritually prepare before the spiritual awakening that is to come. Do not be distracted by your personal surroundings or agendas. Let Go & Let God!

Just a note about what upset Jesus: The temple is not to be used as a commercial center. It is not to be a place for buying and selling, marketing and retailing, stealing and cheating. It is not to be profaned. The temple is the House of God, God's House of worship. It is to be a place of sanctity, refined and purified by God Himself. It is to be a place of quietness and meditation, a place set aside for worship, not for buying and selling where man gets gain.
